With respect to two taxa of G. nepalense Sweet and G. thunbergii Sieb. et Zucc., morphological, anatomical, and palynological characters were investigated and those were compared each other. The anatomical and palynoloical characters are considered by being not useful to distinguish the G. nepalense and G. thunbergii. Both G. nepalense and G. thunbergii have many distinctive characters, such as size of petal trichome of stigma, cell shape of stigma, absent and present of glandular hair on sepal, rostrum, and mericarp, absent and present of hairs and glandular hairs on awn (abaxial) at the time of seed dispersal, distribution of trichome on filament, chalaza disc of seed, hilum area of seed, pollen grains. Based on these results, G. nepalense is thought to be a morphologically distinct taxon, compared with G. thunbergii. Character states of infraspecific taxon of G. nepalense and G. thunbergii were observed to be continuously ecological character
